[AGEOD] Wars of Succession
26-09-2016, 21h50

Ageod’s Wars of Succession
is a new game designed to cover two major wars that consumed Europe at the eve of the 18
th
Century. One was the
War of Spanish Succession (1701-1713)
, pitting the French & Spanish Bourbons monarchs against the Grand Alliance built by Austrian Habsburg, Britain and the United Provinces. The other is the
Great Northern War (1700-1721)
, between Sweden and Russia (and her allies), most of which focused around the succession of Poland. The two wars can be played in separate scenarios. Or there can be a huge 4-players scenario allowing both wars to be played simultaneously. From the initial campaigns in Italy or Germany (Blenheim battle 1704) to those within France itself,
you can lead the great commanders of the time
, such as
John Churchill, Duke of Marlborough or Prince Eugene de Savoie
versus their French opponents like
Villeroy or Villars
. And see if you can win a great victory and an even greater peace that will decide whose family reigns over the Spanish holdings throughout Europe.
And on the other end of the continent,
Charles XII of Sweden
, a worthy heir of the great warrior king Gustavus Adolfus will have to prove his talent to lead the small but powerful Swedish armies against the might of initially backward Russia before his adversary, the famous
Peter I The Great
, transforms the dormant Russian bear in the superpower in the East. And beware of the Ottoman Turks that may join the war there, or may as well pursue their Mediterranean vendetta against the old Venetian Republic to grab their last holdings in Greece (Corfu siege of 1716).
In
Wars of Successions
you will coordinate the movements of several armies of many different great powers and their allies, take care of their supplies and fatigue and seek for the better conditions to engage combat, hold sieges or retreat to recover if needed.
The game will use the simple command and supply mechanisms
that worked will in previous equivalent titles of Ageod such as Wars in America or Rise of Prussia. And the diplomatic aspect will be present, using a simple and easy-to-play system already tested in games like Thirty Years Wars or End All Wars (
game designer
Altaris
is also game designer in this project
). Together, these features, combined with the proven Ageod engine make
Wars of Successions a great choice to delight players interested in this era!
Setting:
the game covers all of Europe, from the Western seaboard to the Volga. The two different big wars focus each on one side of the continent (Spanish Succession over Western and southwest Europe, Great Northern War in Eastern and Northeastern Europe), and some sideshow operations all over the Mediterranean and in the Ottoman Empire. From 1700 to 1720.
Game map
is divided into more than 5,000 regions, with a variety of terrain, climates and development level.
Scenarios: 7 in total,
with 1 tutorial and 2 main scenarios of the whole wars (Spanish Succession, Great Northern War), plus 4 minor campaigns scenarios (2 for each war) with limited theaters (Italy, Spain, Baltics-Poland, Ukraine).
Historical leaders:
More than 160 historical leaders each rated on their abilities and over 200 different types of units from Grenadiers and Musketeers to Winged Husssars and Cossacks, as well as a dozen type of different warships!
Production
: Control your nations spending on the military, economics and diplomacy through a few simple-to-understand assets and production centers.
Regional Decision Cards
: The game includes the already known card system that lets you trigger events such as Land Mines, Contributions, etc… this cards, if played wisely can affect the flow of a campaign.
Detailed game model
includes features such as Weather, Attrition, Supply, Prisoners and Fog of War
Historical Events
are triggered throughout the game giving the player crucial decision points. These cover anything from local uprising to foreign intervention in each of the conflicts.
Battlefield Tactics
allow the player to make decisions that can turn the tide of battle.
Sieges and Naval warfare
are all covered in detail in the game.
Chain of Command
allows units to be organized in to groups and bigger stacks simulating armies
